Anthony Young had a losing streak that began on May 6, 1992 and didn't stop until July 24, 1993. I remember those seasons and my gut twisting every time he walked to the mound. I kept looking for the black cat to run across his toes. How could a losing streak last that long!?
The card scanned here is a 1992 Pinnacle, #558.
If there is a Mets season where this record can be broken - this is it.
AY's record is safe; the Mets don't have the patience any more to give anyone a shot at it.
ReplyDelete@Paul - It was so odd. It's not like he came in and threw gas on the fire. How many times did he leave games while ahead? I was suprised how low his ERA was.
ReplyDeleteI clearly remember those days and it was just painful to watch. It wasn't even his fault half the time but it seemed like they almost wanted to lose when he was out there.
