Like a Beacon of Hope - Sports Cards Vending Machine

I went to my first Blue Jays at the Rogers Centre last week. It was "Twitter Tuesday," which I'll write more about later, but this vending machine jumped out at me.

A vending machine for baseball cards! I love it.

Maybe this is common at every stadium and I haven't noticed before that game. Personally, I'd like for my work place to get one of these. Instead of walking way from my desk to get a cup of coffee, I'd much rather walk away to buy a pack of cards.

I think I can make a case for productivity increase in the workplace by having a 5 minute distraction each day to open a pack of cards.

Wow, there sure is some junky junkwax in there. That being said, I'd buy out the MLB Showdown packs.

They've had one of these machines in my town's supermarket for a couple of years. A lot of Pokemon & junk wax.

Maybe its a Canadian thing? I made a trade with a bloke in Toronto and he had one in his local bowling alley. After a game and a few beers, he is his friends would rip some junk wax. What a way to spend an evening!

A decent concept. My biggest concern would be dinged corners, especially for packs in the top row. Those packs have at lease 5 feet to fall.

That's pretty darn cool. I agree with the other comments that the machine needs a little tweaking - but I want to find one of those out my way.

I have 2 of those machines at different stores by me. I love it, cheap cards from all different eras. How were the prices on the one you found?

During the early 1990s, my Burger King had this machine in their lobby. Yes a burger king. I bought countless packs of Pro Set Golf and Upper Deck hockey packs from it. Never really thought that the cards might get damaged from being dropped from 3-5 five feet lol.

I agree with Sanders, Awesome concept. Dinged corners would be a huge problem. Not that I still wouldn't give it a try. Plus, it looked like a there were some singles or other sports memorabilia in there.

@BA - To be honest, I didn't catch any of the prices. I should have bought some, but I had my hands full of kids hotdogs and drinks.

I'm sure it wasn't the highest of quality, but I wish there were more of those around. I'd trade my work vending machine for one of those instead of the one with dry hostess donuts!
