Is the Triumph Football Spectacular Out of Business?

"They are real. And they are spectacular."

Is the Triumph Sports "Football Spectacular" done? The 2009 spring show was canceled and it doesn't seem like a 2010 show is happening either.

The huge football autograph/memorabilia show was held each year in Edison, NJ had a big name guests like Peyton Manning, Eli Manning, Dan Marino, Emmitt Smith, and John Elway.

I've emailed them a few times asking about the 2010 show, but have not received an answer. All the links to on their web site seem to be out of business too.

Is this another casualty of the economy?

I too was very upset to see that the 2009 show was cancelled. I tried to make sense of it with the economy being in the crapper it made sense. (Lets face it, the majority of folks getting autos were blue collar. They saved their money for that special day to meet their heroes.) I know the site was always updated early, I think mostly to see how many early sales they would be able to confirm. I have also lost my job, and would be unable to go and spend the money to get autographs and meet players. Hopefully, the show will go on in the near future.

Not sure if it's true but I've heard the main promoter of this event has been battling a severe illness.

@Smirker - I hope that's not the case and they are just putting show on the back-burner until things heat up. I'll report back here if I get any news from them.

I've gone a few times. In 99 and in 2008. It was the best!

I check everyday for them to change the site and think they would have done something by now for kiosk and other sellers to buy room space.

I'm going to check back here for details.

Please come back!

Their website says they are currently planning the 2010 show and will post dates as soon as the details are worked out.

They've had that same info on the home page for a while now. I hope it does happen though. I sent another email today.

I just did a little searching, there is a TriStar sponsored show in Baltimore this August. There is about 25 guests listed so far, tickets go on sale in May. Nothing on the show in NJ.

I went on the web site for The Raritan Center were the show is held, they had the dates listed for May. I e-mailed the Raritan Center and they said the show was put on hold for a later date. See what happens. I hope the show comes back , i have gone for the last 6 yrs and always had a great time.

Good to know about the Raritan Center and Baltimore. Let's keep the communication open.

Good news about Triumph, that is better than not at all.

Yes, we need to stay up on the Raritan Center. I'll report if I hear more.

The Raritan Center took the dates off there web site , i e -mailed them again and they said they had no new information. Guess i'll keep trying, i also noticed that the Triumph web site was down, maybe it was my computer or something . I was at a Dan Marino signing 2 weeks ago for Steiner i wanted to ask him what was up but it sliped my mind when i got up there , sorry guys.

I called the Raratin Center today and they said the show which was scheduled for May was canceled...the rep didn't have a reason and he said no make up date was given.

Can't blame you for forgetting when you were meeting Dan Marino. LOL

I tried to be positive when i saw the sight was now 403 FORBIDDEN which means they could have been working on it; but coupled with the pull out from Raritan it isn't looking good.

Keep checking back here if anyone gets news.

The 403 Forbidden error is still on their site. It doesn't look good. I have not received any email replies from them either.

Good find.
GTSM has been doing West Coast shows for a while - maybe they are capitalizing on Triumphs exit?

Thanks for all the comments and responses to the blog post. Great discussion and sharing of information.

From the last comment's information, I sent an email to GTSM re: their NJ show in '11. I started the discussion here:

I went for the first time in 2009, taking my 3 year old, and we had an amazing time. I wish it would come back. It was a truly terrific show and a great experience. I wish it would come back.

The show has been dismal recently.. I set up there 4 years in a row... last time there were many cancellations.. personally I belive the were cancelled due to too few tickets sold for those guests... also the number of paying customers was poor. How many times can you trot Joe Montana and Dan Marino into the same place annually and generate a crowd?

GTSM is a Honolulu based company that has done a fine job bringing in top athletes. Mike of Triumph is not connected with GTSM but I have no doubt that he will be back.
