Gary Carter's All-Star FanFest Fiasco

I think the fan here is trying to set up Gary Carter on this one. Gary is one of the most personable people I've met when getting autographs. You can see in the beginning of the video that Gary is talking to a fan about the spacious stadiums he played in.

I went to the MLB FanFest in Pittsburgh a few years ago and they didn't have any restrictions on what you could signed. Apparently that policy has changed and the fan in the video doesn't like the new policy.

Gary Carter Goes from Ducks to Sailfish

Gary Carter will not manage the NYMets or one of their minor league teams next season (sigh). Carter won't even be in the tri-state area to get a phone call. This explains why his Long Island Ducks Blog with Newsday has been out-of-order.

The Kid has resigned from managing the independent Long Island Ducks to be closer to home and manage the Division II Palm Beach Atlantic University Sailfish. Good thing Paul from Paul's Random Stuff picked up the Ducks autograph baseball for me this summer!

Carter may be criticized for jumping in front of any camera with a red light on the top, but he's wins everywhere he goes:

- Gulf Coast League and Florida State League Manager of the Year in 2005 and 2006.
- Port St. Lucie Mets 2006 League Champions
- Orange County (CA) Flyers 2008 Manager of the Year
- Orange County (CA) Flyers Golden Baseball League Champions
- Long Island Ducks playoffs in 2009.
Omar and Fred - are you hearing this?

Good luck to Gary Carter in south Florida. I hope an MLB team calls soon. He's good for the game and is widely regarded as an excellent manager.

Gary Carter Autograph Ducks Baseball

Gary Carter will sign anything . . . that has a Long Island Ducks logo. The former Mets catcher and Hall of Famer is the manager of the independent league baseball team and signs autographs before most games.

However, Carter will only sign Long Island Ducks merchandise for free. If you want a Mets item signed, he requests a $25 donation to the Gary Carter Foundation.

Positive blog karma to Paul from Paul's Random Stuff for getting the autograph baseball and sending it to me. This is a great piece to add to my Mets collection. Paul l was nice enough to attend the game and navigate his way to Carter for the autograph. All I had to do was pay for the baseball and shipping. A HOF autograph and an'86 Mets champion for the price of a baseball and USPS - sounds good to me! Check out Paul's blog or follow him on Twitter.

Gary Carter will finish his first season as manager of the Long Island Ducks on Sunday. They have an afternoon home game against the Camden Riversharks. I hope his 2010 season as Manager is a few exits down on the Long Island Expressway at Citi Field!

Mets Gary Carter Responds to Ultimate Team Criticism

Gary Carter responded Friday to my criticism of his Ultimate Team!

On June 15, Gary's Long Island Ducks blog caught my attention because of the choices he had for his "Ultimate Baseball Team."

I thought it was odd that Carter would rather have Jeff Kent at 2B instead of Pete Rose. And I didn't agree with his Omar Vizquel selection at short stop over Cal Ripken Jr. or Derek Jeter.

He responded Friday by saying Pete was great at several positions and Cal Ripken Jr. was a different kind of short stop.

Mets Gary Carter's All-Time Baseball Team

Gary Carter's picked his ultimate baseball team and it doesn't include Cal Ripken, Honus Wagner, or Derek Jeter at shortstop and he does not have Rogers Hornsby or Pete Rose at second base.

Instead Carter is picking Jeff Kent and Omar Vizquel to be on his infield. What?

Here's the rest of Gary's Long Island Ducks Blog.

Gary Carter's eBay Autograph Policy

Gary Carter is tired of signing his autograph for free and he's not going to take it any more! Carter, currently the manager for the Long Island Ducks, has a new policy for signing MLB licensed products likes balls, bats, jerseys, photos: He's not signing it unless you donate $25 to the Gary Carter Foundation.

According to the memo posted on the Long Island Ducks' site, The Foundation believes that "MLB-badged" items being sold for profit and they are sick of it!

However, Carter will still sign any Long Island Duck merchandise for free... as long as you pay to get in to the park.

Catch This - Gary Carter has a Blog

Mets great Gary Carter has a blog!

Carter, currently managing the Long Island Ducks, is blogging about his managing style, the prospects on his team, and even the two new ballparks in New York.

I know Gary's been a little too honest campaigning for the Mets manger position, but I still believe he's been treated poorly by the current Mets organization. Really, could he be any worse than managing two historic September collapses?
